River Symphony (SOLD)
River Symphony (SOLD)
"River Symphony" is part of my new Dreamscapes Series of encaustic originals. I created it using the ancient Greek technique of burning layers of hardened beeswax into a wooden substrate, using a live flame which permanently bonds each layer to the one beneath. The effect is dreamy and ethereal, with a soft glow that perfectly captures the magical moment when the sun disappears below the horizon, and the landscape softens into twilight.
River Symphony shows two white-cheeked honeyeaters fluttering up from wild grasses, as the sun sets on the river at Brunswick Heads (near Byron Bay, Australia's most easterly point).
My encaustic originals are archival quality and are in private collections around the world. They are prepped with picture hardware, ready to hang, and do not need to be framed. The burnished edges are part of the artistic process, adding to the ethereal, vintage feel of each piece.
