Dove in the Twilight Storm (SOLD)
Dove in the Twilight Storm (SOLD)
I photographed this colourful, bar-shouldered dove at sunset in bushland behind beautiful Brunswick Heads beach, in northern New South Wales, Australia. As the sun set behind the trees, I saw storm clouds amassing in the sky, and I noticed the dove was watching them, too. I wondered whether she was thinking of flying to a better tree, with more cover from the weather, but she stayed where she was as the rain began to fall, and seemed undisturbed by the crashing thunder and the lightning that was streaking through the sky.
It was so exhilarating being out in nature as the storm rolled through. I hope when viewers view this artwork, they'll feel the drama of the swirling clouds, but also the peacefulness of the undisturbed dove, who sat serenely on her branch through the entire storm.
This is a museum-grade, original encaustic artwork on solid, hardwood panels. It's prepped with picture hardware and ready to hang, but would also look great in a charcoal box frame (unglazed).
