Lewis in a Golden Glow (SOLD)
Lewis in a Golden Glow (SOLD)
Sold to a collector from Sydney, 11 July 2020.
‘Lewis in a Golden Glow’ is an original encaustic painting, created by burning layers of hardened beeswax onto wooden board, with raw pigments, gold leaf, permanent ink and other materials embedded between the wax layers. The finished piece has a gem-like quality and an ethereal atmosphere.
It is 30 cm long, 25 wide and 2 cm deep.
This signed, museum-quality original is sold with a certificate of authenticity. It does not need to be framed because the wooden edges are painted and varnished (in a charcoal colour). It will arrive ready to hang, with picture cord across the back.
The painting is inspired by real life koala, Lewis, who was filmed being rescued from the devastating Australian bushfires of 2019-2020. I created it to immortalise Lewis, and to draw attention to the urgent need to protect this beautiful and iconic species from extinction.
All of my artworks can be shipped overseas. I pack them professionally with corner protectors, and protect the surface and edges. I also arrange insurance with the shipping company, which is included in the cost of the artwork.
Encaustic artworks last as long as oil paintings and ceramics as long as they are looked after properly. Like all fine art, it’s best to avoid hanging or storing them in a place where the sun shines directly on them and it’s best to avoid temperature extremes (they do best in 40-150f / 5-52c).
