'Moonrise Magpie I' is part of my Dreamscapes Series, created by embedding raw pigments into multiple layers of hot and cold wax to create texture and depth.

This magpie lives in the sand dunes behind our local beach in Brunswick Heads, on the east coast of Australia. I've known him since he was a chick, and he often poses for me when I'm out with my camera. Although Australian magpies aren't nocturnal, I decided to create a beautiful dreamworld for him, showing him posing under spectacular skies.

This piece is an original artwork, painted on hardwood using archival wax and pigments. It is prepped with picture hardware and is ready to hang.
