Resting in Beauty (SOLD)
Resting in Beauty (SOLD)
Dimensions: 92cm x 42cm
This triptych was inspired by a mood - a feeling of meditative calm that comes from complete immersion in nature. It shows glimpses of azure ocean through wild grasses along untamed coastline in a beautiful region of Australia known as the Northern Rivers. The title, 'Resting in Beauty' was the name given to a meditation on nature by a local yogi in summer 2024.
Creating this work was a form of meditation in itself. It involves a long and repetitive process of burning layer upon layer of beeswax, resin and raw pigments into a wooden substrate, with each layer scraped back and then polished to create a dreamy, ethereal surface. The ancient technique involves the use a live flame to bond each layer to the one below, requiring total focus and immersion in the moment.
The finished piece has a dreamy, restful mood. The textured, reflective surface brings light into the interior and a feeling of bringing the outdoors indoors. It is prepped with picture hardware, ready to hang, and does not need to be framed (the unique edges are part of the artwork).
Tanya’s ethereal triptychs are in public and private collections around the world and can be shipped internationally.
