"Swallows at Nightfall" is one of the last remaining pieces of my Out on the Edge series, which has found homes in collections all over the world.

It has a dreamy quality, created using 50-60 layers of beeswax and resin, which are burned into the panel using a live flame. The wax is perfect for depicting the river in this scene, as it is luminous and reflective and brings more light into the room. I love the little welcome swallows that are perched on the ledge in the corner, huddled up together as night falls.

This encaustic original is museum grade, prepped with picture hardware, and ready to hang.
