Encaustic on cradled wooden panel

‘The Light of the Flower Moon’ is a one-off encaustic painting, part of the 2025 Flower Moon Series. It shows an Australian white-cheeked honeyeater perching in a flowering banksia tree, as the rosy light of the spring moon lights up the scene.

This piece is created using the ancient Greek practice of burning layers of beeswax, resin and pigments into a substrate using a live flame. Each layer fuses to the one below, creating an ethereal surface that reflects light into the room, giving the impression of ‘bringing the outdoors indoors’.

This piece does not need to be framed - its unique edges are part of the artwork and look best left as they are. The back of the panel is prepped with picture hardware, ready to hang.

My encaustic originals are in private collections around the world and are available for domestic and international shipping.
