This original encaustic painting is created straight from my heart. The scene, which I created by burning layers of hot wax and raw pigments into my wildlife photography, shows a northern koala in a gum tree amid the Australian bushfires of 2020. The bushfires were a traumatic, emotional experience for all of us affected.

I'm using this and other artworks in my 'extinction series' to draw national and international attention to the plight of our iconic koalas, which are increasingly endangered by bushfires, climate change and deliberate land clearing.

This original artwork resembles glazed ceramic and has a gem-like quality. It is framed in a silver, wooden box frame and is prepped with picture hardware, ready to hang.
