The Sacred Garden
The Sacred Garden
Australia's Sacred Kingfishers perch high up in the shady canopies of gum trees, watching for the shimmering movement of fish in the waterways beneath them. Last summer, this sacred kingfisher visited our garden every day, his beautiful teal and sapphire feathers flashing through the sky. I preserved his memory for ever using a modern adaptation of the ancient Greek technique of burning layers of beeswax, resin, pigments and inks into my wood-mounted, enlarged photographic print.
Dimensions: 42cm x 30cm
The finished panel is museum quality. It is prepped with picture hardware and is cradled and braced on the back. It does not need to be framed (its unique edges add to the artwork's appeal).
My encaustic artworks can be shipped internationally and are in private collections around the world
