Part of Tanya’s Last Light Series. Tanya photographed this bee-eater catching bees on the wing in the bush behind Belongil Beach, and later used it as the inspiration for this artwork. In the original, she combined cold wax medium with oil paint and built layers of contrasting colours, carving into them to create depth and texture. She included both abstract and realist features to add to the impression of movement.
